The Role:
The Consumer and Competition Protection Commission (CCPC) is seeking a Media Communications Manager to join its Corporate Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Unit.
This team delivers corporate communications for enforcement, advocacy and research activities, media queries, public affairs, stakeholder engagement, event management, internal communications, and consumer information campaigns.
The unit consists of four Managers, three Communications Executives, and a Head of Unit, all skilled at supporting the delivery of the unit's wide-ranging responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Review complex material and distill it into concise content suitable for various stakeholders.
* Create compelling communications outputs, including press releases, stakeholder communications, briefing documents, and website news stories.
* Draft timely responses to media queries, ensuring advocacy and consumer awareness messaging is included where appropriate.
* Support proactive PR activity on consumer rights topics to complement paid campaigns and amplify priority CCPC messages.
* Develop media and communications strategies to communicate organisational outputs for non-paid media partnerships.
* Monitor the media environment and support media relations activities.
* Prepare the Commission and senior leadership team for media and high-visibility engagements.
* Work closely with other teams to ensure aligned communications messaging and approaches.
* Act as a brand ambassador and monitor CCPC press activity against KPI targets.
Requirements
* A minimum of four years' experience in public relations and media communications.
* Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills, with the ability to cut through complexity and translate concepts into easy-to-understand content.
* Proven ability to write succinct, corporate and consumer press releases at pace.
* Strong time management skills, ability to work under pressure, and multitask effectively.
* Ability to build consensus across the organisation and work collaboratively.
