About the Job
In your new role:
1. You will provide guidance and leadership to management and engage with all staff across the organisation on construction environmental areas.
2. You will manage the delivery of specific programmes, projects, and initiatives.
3. You will ensure regulatory compliance through influence and participation.
4. You will drive a culture of best practice and continuous improvement in environment across the business.
5. You will introduce proactive measures to improve environmental performance on site.
6. You will manage both internal and external environmental resources.
7. You will engage with supply chain and vendors relating to environmental and sustainability performance and improvement.
8. You will monitor, review and enhance resources use on site - reduction of waste, reuse and recycling.
9. You will oversee and govern Article 27 and 28 movements.
10. You will monitor and share guidance on emerging sustainability and environmental related legislation, policy and industry best practice and trends.
11. You will advise on potential risks associated with emerging legislation and recommend solutions.
12. You will represent the business on industry committees and other groups, and liaise with various representative bodies, membership organisations in relation to environment.
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years' experience in an Environmental Management or equivalent role
* Bachelor's Degree or Diploma
* Detailed knowledge of implementation of Environmental Management Systems to ISO 14001 (incl. implementation)
* Awareness and experience of biodiversity and ecology from an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) perspective
* Working knowledge of construction waste management legal and regulatory requirements
* Ability to interpret and develop management plans for noise, dust and vibration
* Experience and competency regarding preservation and mitigation measures (SPA, SAC and NHA)
* Experience of CSRD requirements and ESG responsibilities - ability to suggest innovative measures to address
* Detailed knowledge of waste management and Article 27 and 28
* Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
* Ability to work effectively with colleagues from all levels of the organisation, including senior leaders, project/site managers and supply chain
* Demonstrated success in driving solutions involving multiple stakeholders and layers of management, and multiple simultaneous deliverables
* Familiarity with sustainability reporting standards
Desirable
* Experience working within residential construction
* Environmental Management/Engineering or related degree is desirable
