This role would suit someone with the above skills currently at Consultant level looking to build on their experience.

The Underwriting area assesses over 50,000 protection applications per year across Life, Specified Illness, Bill Cover & Income Protection Cover.
In this role, you will report to a Team Manager and will be required to make decisions on large and complex risks while working within a dynamic and fast-paced team.
The Underwriter role will include the following responsibilitiesAssessing new applications and deciding on medical and financial requirements in accordance with the company philosophyDeveloping good relationships with internal and external stakeholdersAssessment of complex medical and financial risks, plus management of Large Case risksLiaising with Chief Medical Officer and ReinsurersCorresponding with Brokers, Employers, customers, and DoctorsDeveloping a high level of technical and medical expertiseWhat you will need to be successful in the roleSeveral years of relevant underwriting experienceStrong analytical reasoning and decision-making capabilitiesHighly developed interpersonal and communication skillsDemonstrated commercial awarenessA track record of displaying a positive, solution-focused attitudeAn organised approach and delivers on any promises madeKnowledge of the Risk, Control, and Regulatory Environment relevant to this role and ensure control mechanisms are in place to prevent any risk arisingDesirable qualifications: Interest in ongoing developments in relevant underwriting & protection topics.Broad systems and data analysis skillsAttained the Diploma in Life & Disability Underwriting (DLDU) or on pathway to equivalent underwriting qualification.About usIrish Life is one of Ireland's largest financial institutions with a presence across a range of financial services markets.
