Job Description The purpose of this job is to serve as a laboratory support analyst within the client environment to support their technical and analytical tasks, to work to the highest standards in terms of quality and professionalism.
Job Responsibilities Support cell culture and purification projects including set up of equipment and material preparation.
Support laboratory bioreactor runs –data monitoring, sampling, sample analysis and bioreactor feeding Maintaining laboratory equipment by performing checks (i.e.
calibrations, reagent replenishment) and organizing performance maintenance or services as required in conjunction with laboratory staff and project schedules.
Support of key activities in the laboratory such as processing of autoclave and washer loads Restocking of laboratory consumables and support of 5S in the lab.
Responsible for providing general assistance in the laboratory.
Keep up to date with existing and new SOPs and official documentation.
Perform investigations, where required, for API LM Lab issues etc.
Perform sample management activities.
Coordinate receipt and/or shipping of samples to/from external sites as required.
Perform other duties as designated by Laboratory Management. Develop subject matter expertise on assigned techniques.
Independently write/revise SOPs or other official documentation and reports, when required.
Execute independently assigned projects.
Coordinating & responding to ad-hoc requests for information and/or assistance relating to lab equipment and lab support tasks.
Monitoring of equipment alarms as required and responding appropriately.
Follow up with maintenance personnel in the event of equipment breakdowns.
Dealing with client requests and liaising with the Group Leader in terms of resources, continuous improvement and ensuring continuity of service to the client.
Keeping their training records up to date and initiating training where possible when free from work.
Adhering to all company standards in the area of safety, housekeeping and quality, notifying management of any discrepancies.
Providing cover for other members of the PSS Team as required.
Ensuring any quality or productivity issues within the team are investigated and dealt with appropriately.
To be constantly aware of the client's requirements and strive to meet or exceed those requirements keeping in mind the client process and deliverables.
To identify and communicate to PSS Management and the client areas for improvement or optimisation in order to improve efficiencies and provide a cost effective service.
Actively participate in Lean and productivity improvement initiatives.
Focus on continuous improvement and ability to propose and implement change.
As with all members of staff this person is responsible for ensuring that the client requirements are fully met and in so doing will be flexible to work in any area of the business as is required.
Qualifications A diploma or Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology) or Minimum 6 months-2 years relevant industry based experience preferable (dependent on qualifications).
Industrial experience in aseptic techniques is essential, with cell culture a distinct advantage Additional experience or exposure to biotech industrial environment is a distinct advantage Experience in analytical techniques such as cell counting (CEDEX / VIcell), pH, conductivity, metabolites (BioFlex), and osmolality is an advantage Practical analytical laboratory experience in a GMP or GLP environment is preferred. High attention to detail and high level of discipline in techniques is required Analytical skills to troubleshoot laboratory issues are an asset.
Ability to work well within team structures and provide leadership is required.
Good communication is a key skill requirement.
Willingness to work weekends is required.
This role involves regular weekend hours as standard.
