Social Worker – Adults Disabilities Service – Kilkenny
Our client provides a wide range of personal and social supports through day and residential services to adults with an intellectual disability in Kilkenny.
This role will involve some travel between services; a full driver's licence and access to a car are essential.
We are currently recruiting for a Social Worker for a permanent position and also to cover maternity leave.
The role will involve working with adults from 18 – 65+ years requiring low to medium support.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide assessment, intervention and proactively provide personal and educational input into person-centred program planning.
2. Empower service users to advocate for themselves.
3. Advocate on behalf of service users.
4. Provide support to and seek input from families and next of kin of service users.
5. Promote community participation and inclusion for service users.
6. Assist in goal setting and achievements for service users.
7. Liaise with other multi-disciplinary staff and agencies in order to meet the needs of each individual service user.
This role will be a mix of working across residential and day centres and will also involve some outreach to adults living at home.
Qualifications:
1. A recognised qualification as a social worker and registration with CORU.
2. Some post-graduate experience required, ideally within an intellectual disability service or working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
3. A car and full driver's licence will be beneficial due to travel involved.
