Clinical Specialist – CT Radiographer

About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated CT Clinical Specialist Radiographer to join a leading diagnostic imaging team based in South/West Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about clinical excellence, compliance, and patient-centred care.
The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day running of the CT service, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. They will also provide support across other modalities when needed, including MRI, X-ray, and DXA.
Key Responsibilities
CT Service Leadership:

Independently operate CT equipment and ensure safe, high-quality imaging practices.

Take responsibility for daily operations, including scheduling, scanner protocols, and QA processes.

Maintain compliance with relevant ionising radiation regulations (e.g., SI 256, SI 30) including Justification, Optimisation, and dose monitoring.

Ensure CT department and staff are fully trained, audit-ready, and in line with local policies and safety standards.

Perform clinical assessments and apply cognitive radiographic skills to tailor procedures and interpret results.

Coordinate effectively with radiologists regarding protocols and clinical priorities.

Maintain accurate records in RIS/PACS and ensure continuous quality control.
General Radiography Support:

Provide support in other imaging areas (MRI, X-ray, DXA) when required.

Adhere to local radiation safety protocols and contribute to a culture of safety and ALARA principles.

Assist in patient care, transfer, and positioning, always maintaining respect and dignity.

Maintain detailed records including dose statistics, screening times, and other relevant metrics.
Team Development:

Participate in performance reviews and staff development activities.

Contribute to ongoing training and professional development across the radiology department.
Qualifications & Experience

BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent

Minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience

MSc or formal postgraduate qualification in CT preferred

CORU registration required
-
Proven experience in complex CT scanning

Familiarity with Irish radiation safety legislation and quality standards

Excellent interpersonal, technical, and organisational skills
