The successful candidate will join a team of experienced technical experts who manage large commercial property and combined clients.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Profitably underwrite commercial property and combined property/liability renewals and new business opportunities to achieve GWP.
2. Manage and build relationships with intermediaries, within the team and with colleagues in other areas of the business.
3. Oversee the end-to-end customer outcome of allocated renewals aligned to target KPI's.
4. Build and maintain strong working relationships within the team, other areas of the business, and external stakeholders.
5. Balance the speed of turnaround with the technical requirements of the role to deliver on renewal retention and any new business conversion.
6. Engage with internal stakeholders in Sales, Pricing, and Portfolio management to negotiate terms and conduct a detailed risk assessment and acceptance within the existing Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA) framework agreements.
7. Share knowledge and technical expertise with colleagues, contribute to personal and team technical development.
8. Identify and implement improvements in process, proposition, or service to best serve our customer base.
9. Maintain and develop strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential Experience:
1. A minimum of 6 years experience in writing property and liability insurance including underwriting large GWP and technical cases.
2. APA or relevant qualification.
3. Experience in business development, customer relationship management, achieving targets, technical underwriting.
Desirable Experience:
1. CIP or working towards ACII.
2. Consistent track record in terms of meeting ambitious underwriting targets.
3. Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Salesforce.
4. Evidence of having successfully handled customer/broker relationships in previous roles.
