Category Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Category Specialist to join our talented Procurement team, based in Mullingar with options for other sites and hybrid working arrangements.
This role reports to the Procurement Category Manager and is responsible for deploying best practice solutions to meet operational procurement goals for the Professional Services and Forest Operations categories.
The successful candidate will have a key responsibility to ensure business and procurement strategies are fully supported, as well as supporting the development and delivery of simplified and efficient procurement processes to ensure high-quality contractor procurement services.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the procurement process for the Professional Services & Forest Operations categories.
* Work with business areas to ensure tender requirements are agreed and contracts are in place when needed.
* Responsible for the advertisement, delivery and award of tenders in line with business requirements and relevant procurement regulations.
* Support the development of robust procurement strategies for assigned categories and assist in the execution of annual implementation plans.
* Identify and deliver value for money through the implementation of cost savings and continuous improvement programmes from category strategies.
* Reporting and analysis of tender activities, as well as supplier market insights for assigned procurement categories.
* Engage in improvement projects and initiatives to support our sustainability objectives.
* Responsible for implementing progressive and flexible resourcing solutions to ensure a growing and vibrant contractor base that meets changing and future capacity and capability needs.
* Support the development of contractors and suppliers through collaboration and partnerships.
* Responsible for implementing effective supplier relationship management processes to recognise and reward top performers.
Your Skills and Experience:
* 3+ years' experience in public procurement operations, with knowledge of procurement regulations.
* Educated to a relevant qualification in business (HETAC Level 8) or procurement (Professional Diploma in Public Procurement).
* Knowledge to understand and manage financials to maintain profitability.
* Knowledge and experience of strategy formulation and innovation in exploiting strategy delivery.
* Knowledge and insight of end markets and customers, with a dedication to meeting expectations and requirements.
* Strong report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
* Capacity to reduce complexity and increase efficiency in business processes.
