Job Purpose: To assist in creating a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children and their parents and to encourage the overall development of the children in your care (physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual).

Main responsibilities / duties:Child Welfare and DevelopmentTo adhere to Children's First Act 2015, and the National Guidelines for the Protection and Welfare of Children 2017.To have a commitment to putting children and their welfare first.To assist in creating a caring, safe, and stimulating environment for the children.To assist in the day-to-day care and supervision of the children in our care with sensitivity and fun.To maintain the highest standards of quality care and to encourage the development of the children in an age-appropriate way.CurriculumTo have a working knowledge of Siolta and Aistear and be able to implement it in programme and curriculum planning.To carry out observations of the children in your care, to record them and make assessments.To plan and implement a weekly/monthly curriculum based on your recorded observations.RecordingTo keep all records of the children up to date, including accidents, incidents, and observations.OutdoorsTo promote the outdoor environment throughout all of the seasons.To arrange outings and trips for the children.Value DiversityTo be aware of the various behaviors and barriers that discrimination can take and understand the negative impact these can have on the children, parents, and team.To respect each child's cultural, religious, and ethnic background and to be sensitive to their needs and that of their Parents/Guardians.To be involved in and help arrange different celebrations throughout the year for the parents and children.TeamTo adhere to all policies and procedures of the service and to be involved when adopting new policies for the crèche.To work well within a team with open communication and support.To attend and actively contribute to staff meetings, monthly staff support, supervision, and monthly curriculum meetings.To be involved and speak with parents and guardians on a daily and individual basis.Health and SafetyTo maintain a high standard of hygiene with the children and within the Crèche itself at all times.To be aware of health, safety, and fire regulations and to practice monthly fire drills.To ensure that all equipment is in full working order.To participate in ongoing training.To report immediately any aspects or concerns to the Manager.To work in harmony with other service providers in the building.GeneralTo be in tune with the ethos of the Organisation.To carry out any other duties relevant to the post which are assigned by the Manager.
