The role of an Assistant Psychologist within My Psychology Ireland will be:
* To support the principal psychologist & other therapists within the practice in their delivery of psychological services.
* To deliver in person psychological care to those considered suitable.
* To deliver group-based interventions alongside the principal psychologist.
* To gain insight and knowledge into working privately as a psychologist.
The Assistant Psychologist will be clinically supervised by Dr Patricia Barber, Chartered Counselling Psychologist. Supervision is strictly in line with Psychological Society of Ireland Guidelines.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical
* To engage in supervised 1-1 direct client facing work delivering evidence based primary care interventions to those who attend the practice. This may include guided self-help, psychoeducational material, individual or group work.
* To contribute to the assessment of clients requesting to engage in therapy within the practice.
* To contribute to clinical case formulations.
* To engage with the families & carers of those who attend the practice, as appropriate.
* To operate within the PSI’s Code of Ethics.
* Delivering training within development days & to other professionals.
* Ensure the protection of service user data in accordance with the PSI Code of Ethics and the Data Protection Act (2003).
* Have a working knowledge of and adhere at all times to the relevant national and local policy in relation to safeguarding children (e.g., Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children, 2011); safeguarding adults; and the prevention and control of infection.
* Maintain clinical practice that reflects the diverse cultural, religious and ethnic needs of the individuals who engage with the practice.
* Participate in relevant induction training.
Organisational
* Plan, prioritise and manage one’s workload in line with objectives of the Assistant Psychologist Role.
* Maintain records in line with professional guidelines and standards.
* Attend CPD events as agreed with Clinical Supervisor.
* Support the practice in administrative tasks.
* Conduct research, audit and service evaluations as required.
