Manufacturing Process Engineer
We are a vitro diagnostics division with approximately 70,000 institutional customers in more than 100 countries. Our diagnostic products offer a broad range of innovative instrument systems and tests for hospitals, reference labs, blood banks, physician offices, and clinics.
Purpose of the Job:
The primary responsibility of the MANUFACTURING PROCESS ENGINEER is to provide support to the manufacturing organization to facilitate efficient operations within the production area, to optimize existing processes, and to ensure that production goals are met. Monitors performance of equipment, machines, and tools and corrects equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields, or product quality issues. Interfaces with operations, quality, and technical teams on products or processes in the existing manufacturing processes. Ensure the plant meets its safety, quality, regulatory, service, and financial goals through effective support of Engineering Site Services.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
* Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes, for current programs, next generation programs, and to meet strategic goals and objectives of the company.
* Analyses and solves problems from basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts through to a wide range of complex and advanced problems which require novel and new innovative approaches.
* Support and ensure Engineering Site Services meet their key metrics.
* Assist in process development/improvement projects, in compliance with procedural requirements.
* Share engineering/scientific or other knowledge with team members.
* Assist in the deployment of a Business Excellence culture in the area. To identify and implement cost improvement and cycle time reduction opportunities.
* Adhere to all GLP and GMP requirements and ensure safety standards are met and safe working practices are adhered to.
* Ensure environmental procedures (e.g., recycling, waste minimization) are adhered to and improvements made where possible.
* The day-to-day demand and preventative maintenance and problem-solving of plant and manufacturing equipment to achieve product quality and production schedule goals.
* The completion and recording of functional and safety checks on plant and manufacturing equipment and correction of any issues. Ensure the maintenance of the facility and manufacturing equipment.
* Assistance in implementation of equipment/process upgrade in an environment of continuous improvement.
* Liaison with and assistance to contracted maintenance, e.g., service/commissioning engineers, factory inspectors, building contracts, site maintenance, etc.
* Ensure Safety Standards are met and safe-working practices adhered to.
* Recommend/implement improvements to safety standards.
* Liaise directly with other departments in accident/incident investigations and address any issues arising from these investigations.
* Ensure Environmental procedures e.g., recycling, waste minimization is adhered to and improvements made where possible.
* In conjunction with the Quality calibration coordinator ensure compliance with calibration requirements both Plant and Manufacturing.
* Ensure External contractors are managed and supervised.
* Any other relevant duties as requested by the Area Team Leader/Manager.
Education & Experience:
* A third level qualification in a relevant Engineering or relevant discipline as this will provide a basic understanding of engineering, scientific, and/or quality principles required for the role.
* Two years experience in engineering/scientific/quality systems.
* Experience in the manufacture of diagnostic assays or a relevant post-graduate qualification is an advantage.
Hours of Work:
Week 1-4: Thursday, Friday, Saturday work from 7am to 7pm (Team 1) or Sunday, Monday, Tuesday work from 7am to 7pm (Team 2).
Week 5: Saturday, Sunday, Monday nights work from 7pm to 7am along with 1 floating day to be completed every 4 weeks.
