About the role
We are looking for the Senior Global Principal Toxicologist for our location in Naas, Ireland.
The position is fully remote.
Key responsibilities
* External engagement - Leads the contracting of external safety labs and coordination of respective toxicity studies to support the assessment of safety for ingredients within the Pro Active Health Portfolio.
* Strategic Business Partner - Develop plans which include cost projections and timelines to conduct necessary safety studies to support clinically relevant doses of dietary ingredients in food and supplement applications based upon commercial strategy.
* Innovation & Ideation - Critical member of the R&D team of scientists designing preclinical studies. Review and publish study reports in scientific peer-reviewed journals.
* Customer Engagement - Participate on calls with global key accounts and other customers regarding questions about the safe consumption of Kerry ingredients in food and dietary supplement applications.
* All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and skills
Education: PhD in Toxicology is a minimum. Additional qualifications are advantageous including Board certification.
Technical:
Excellent experience in food, supplement or drug industry
* Knowledgeable about technologies within a specific expertise in Botanicals, Probiotics and other Bioactive compounds. Advanced knowledge of crafting safety narratives for submission to Food and Drug agencies. Participates in regulatory-related business projects as appropriate. Ability to make recommendations to senior management regarding preclinical studies.
* Fundamental scientific background, with focus on Food or Drug safety.
* Extensive knowledge in conducting Acute, Sub-Chronic and Chronic toxicity studies, with specialization in Genotoxicity or Reproductive toxicity.
* Advanced level knowledge about the battery of toxicological studies used to support safety narratives and assessments.
* Advanced knowledge of regulations around Food and Supplements with focus on establishing a reasonable certainty of no harm for GRAS, NDI and Novel Food applications.
* Expertise in design of experiments and statistical analysis.
* Expertise in pharmacokinetics.
* Project Management Expertise.
* Competency in the cluster technology.
* Develops creative approaches to address complex product safety-related issues.
* Proactively partners with Product Management and R&D teams on new product development.
