The Immigrant Council of Ireland (ICI) is a non-governmental organisation and Independent Law Centre which provides information, advice and legal representation to migrants and their families moving to or living in Ireland.
The Immigrant Council's aim is to directly assist migrants in navigating the Irish immigration system and, in turn, the organisation uses its experience and expertise to lobby for positive policy and legislative changes within the immigration system and associated areas.

Full-Time, 1 year contract.
Purpose of position:
The Communications Officer is responsible for leading on the organisation's primary communications activities (including social media, website maintenance and traditional PR) and rolling out an organizational supporter engagement strategy.
Candidates must have top-notch communications and digital skills, as well as a broad understanding of the Irish immigration system, political structure and overall passion for human rights.
They will work closely with the CEO and management team at the Immigrant Council.
Key responsibilities:
Develop and implement a social media strategy to amplify the organization's mission, activities, and campaigns.
Content creation for social media channels, develop and edit content for ICI's digital platforms, including website and supporter newsletter.
Liaise between organisation and external media (coordinating press releases and fielding media queries) and external technical support team (managing website and web domain).Report regularly on communications activities and providing insight into campaign learnings.
Develop digital media materials to support Immigrant Council programmes, organisational communications and advocacy, including design and production of graphics, short videos and animations, infographics, and other multimedia materials as needed.
Oversee the Immigrant Council of Ireland supporter engagement process.
Increase acquisition of email subscribers.
Use Google Analytics to identify necessary improvements to the website.
Assist in the coordination of ICI events, including press conferences, report launches, seminars and briefings.
Monitor national and regional media coverage of issues relating to the work of the organisation and assisting the CEO and wider ICI team in the development of strategies to respond to issues arising.
Brief media to secure media coverage in support of ICI's objectives and goals.
Develop and maintain relationships with journalists
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
The successful candidate is likely to have strong digital communications skills, but may come from a journalism or digital creative background with readily transferable skills.
They will be an innovative professional with exceptional content creation, communication, networking and relationship management skills.
They will be comfortable creating multimedia content and coordinating our online communications platforms, including our website.
The successful candidate will work closely with our highly effective team to build on the work already done by the Immigrant Council and bring us closer to long-term sustainability.
Essential skills:
Experience using social media channels (including TikTok), drafting and repurposing content, responding to comments and growing audiences.
Basic graphic design experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro) or other applications.
Experience in public relations and media engagement.
Ability to meet and prioritise multiple deadlines and work independently as part of a multidisciplinary team in fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to carry out different tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining an overview of all activity.
Experience using MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook.
Exceptional English writing, presentation and proofreading skills.
Highly self-motivated, innovative and able to work autonomously.
Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
Experience in maintaining websites using a content management system.
Experience using Google Analytics and Google Ads.
Experience setting up and running social media ads across Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.
Experience on creating social media content to engage young audience.
Experience in creating content.
The ability to bring innovative creative thinking and fresh ideas to an organisation.
The ability to effectively measure and report on the impact of activities.
Understanding or experience of the Irish immigration system.
Previous experience in the human rights or NGO sector.
Salary range of role:
€35,000 to €40,000 dependent on experience.
