In this role you will have overall responsibility for intake, kill, evisceration and storage of animals and the efficient running of the slaughter line facilities.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Manage the slaughter line processes, carcass loading and chill operation to the required productivity levels.
2. Work with the maintenance team to ensure uptime is achieved and plans are in place for the delivery of production. Promote a root cause analysis and problem solving culture.
3. Report on daily, weekly and monthly basis on activity, productivity, costs, deviations, initiatives and actions.
4. Manage Animal Welfare from the Livestock Vehicles through the Lairage to Stunning.
5. Comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
6. Actively manage Slaughter Line uptime performance including the delivery of the Preventative Maintenance System.
7. Delivery efficient utilisation for raw materials.
8. Liaise with the onsite Regulatory representatives to ensure all legal and regulatory requirements for animal slaughter are met.
9. Training and development of staff including: SOP’s management, operator training. Ensure the Slaughter Training Matrix is maintained and reviewed; and that appropriate training is planned and carried out.
10. Implement cost controls in relation to labour including absenteeism and resource levels.
11. Ensure all Health & Safety requirements are met and required standards and practices are maintained by all staff. Undertake Risk Management Meetings. Support accident investigations and implement learnings.
12. Control the operation of the payment data collecting system including SOP’s and records from lairage to scales.
13. Support change management and lean management initiatives.
14. Ensure the Company Environmental Policy is adhered to.
15. Identify problems promptly through line management ensuring quick resolution. Communicating and escalating appropriately.
16. Manage the resourcing plans, dealing with employee issues with the support of HR to ensure the employees are motivated, trained and managed to deliver business results.
Qualifications and experience requirements:
* Management experience in an animal slaughter process.
* Strong understanding of production processes and maintenance and equipment.
* Strong sense of customer service.
* Lean management and problem solving experience.
* Good organisational skills.
* People management skills and experience.
* Financial / KPI management experience.
* Knowledge of HACCP.
* Awareness of personal responsibilities concerning H&S and Security requirements within the department.
* Ability to train operatives.
