At Ring, our Data Science and Engineering Team is seeking an experienced Systems Development Engineer (SysDev) to build and enhance platform capabilities.
This role will focus on improving system availability, scalability, and reliability, with a strong emphasis on security initiatives and automation.
The ideal candidate will take ownership of monitoring systems, security processes, and infrastructure improvements to ensure a secure, efficient, and highly reliable environment.
You will build internal tools, drive strategic security initiatives within engineering teams, and establish governance for security best practices.
This role requires strong technical expertise, business judgment, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, build, and maintain frameworks and tools that improve the efficiency of data management for internal and external stakeholders.
* Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve production software issues, while developing monitoring solutions and performing system maintenance.
* Maintain and enhance existing codebases (primarily in Python) to meet evolving security standards and corporate mandates.
* Drive operational excellence by identifying improvements, proposing solutions, and building scalable, maintainable systems.
* Lead security-focused initiatives, including automation of security processes and governance across engineering teams.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
* Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust.
* Experience with Linux/Unix.
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience with distributed systems at scale.
