A busy pharmacy located in Mitchelstown County Cork.
Working Monday to Thursday, the Superintendent Supervising Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring that all prescription drug dispensing is carried out in accordance with Irish Legislation and Guidelines issued by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland. The Supervising Pharmacist is also responsible for the day-to-day administration associated with dispensing.
Shop opens from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday. A second Pharmacist works Friday and Saturday; however, some flexibility is available and required. You will be working alongside 2 Pharmacy Technicians and 3 OTC Sales Assistants.
About Your New Job
The Superintendent Supervising Pharmacist is accountable and responsible for the following activities, as relevant:
* Acting as the Supervising Pharmacist for the Pharmacy
* Generating all relevant paperwork and records and ensuring that they are kept up to date and stored in accordance with the relevant pharmacy legislation
* Dispensing of prescription medicines for all customers
* Performing a clinical, pharmaceutical, and order entry quality review of all prescriptions to ensure their appropriateness for treatment
* Performing an accuracy check on all prescriptions prior to them being prepared for dispensing to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation
* Liaising with customers' doctors to address any queries that might arise as a result of the clinical and pharmacy review and the accuracy check
* Offering and providing patient counselling services to all patients receiving medicines
* Setting up and maintaining a locum back-up to cover periods of holidays/absence
* Participating in continuous professional development and maintenance of professional status and standards
* Developing a culture of continuous quality improvement within the retail pharmacy business
* Risk management of the quality system and processes associated with the pharmacy
* Reviewing process change controls associated with the pharmacy
* Ensuring systems are in compliance with regulatory requirements
* Complying with all relevant standards, as applicable
* Complying with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements
* Ensuring the system and operation of the pharmacy is operated in line with regulatory requirements and that any employees or contract staff work in line with these requirements
* Compliant and efficient running of the retail pharmacy to meet business needs and PSI requirements
* Identifying and taking corrective and preventive actions on the pharmacy and related processes to improve quality, compliance, and patient safety.
