At RPS, our Mechanical & Electrical engineering business is experiencing strong exciting growth, and we are now recruiting for a Senior Associate / Technical Director to help manage and grow our M&E Department, ideally based in our Dublin office, but not essential as we can be flexible for the right candidate.
In this role, you will be an integral part of our Buildings & Infrastructure MEP senior team in delivering projects and solutions for our clients using your expertise in the design of all mechanical & electrical elements across a broad range of projects, both public- and private-sector.

What you’ll be doing
* This is a dynamic role with an experienced team distributed throughout our Galway, Cork and Dublin offices and a strong pipeline of interesting and challenging projects. The execution of the successful candidate’s duties will be supported by the Senior Management Team along with the Marketing, Financial, Quality and Human Resources divisions of RPS.
* Manage the design of all M&E engineering elements produced by the team to ensure compliance with client brief, programme, codes and standards. Undertake quality and safety reviews.
* Take responsibility for financial aspects of projects including producing fee proposals, negotiating fee agreements, monitoring costs, revenue and profit etc. Assist with leading and developing a team of engineers within the M&E department.
* Development of new work streams through business development. Build and develop good client relationships.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for a Senior Associate / Technical Director with experience across a wide range of market sectors, who can communicate at all levels and engage successfully with clients and design teams and who exhibits the following attributes:
* Chartered Engineer (Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services or Energy Engineer).
* Significant levels of proven design experience with demonstrated success and project achievements, preferably gained in a Consulting Engineering practice(s).
* Have undertaken senior design roles across a broad spectrum of building projects including State funded, Public-sector, Commercial and Industrial, Private Sector.
* Significant experience in Client interfaces and contract management with strong Client links.
* Have been responsible for the Technical and Commercial Management of projects including the budgeting and assignment of MEP Resources within fee and profitability limitations.
* Possess excellent communication abilities, both written and oral, and will have effective inter-personal skills that will encourage team working collaboration and growth.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
* Detailed knowledge of relevant design codes, specifications, legislation and practices including latest / emerging updates such as sustainable low carbon design innovation.
* Provide leadership in conceptualising and implementing design (technical) and quality compliance.
* Development of new business (sales to new clients) and winning further repeat business with existing clients.
* Developing systems and processes to enhance the efficiency and performance of the operation.
* Setting high standards of performance across the team.
* Ensuring good communications within the department and to other stakeholders involved within the Group.
* Ability to maintain good relationships with the other functions within the Group and maximise cross-functional working.
* A thorough understanding of terms of professional appointments, contractual arrangements, procurement and project management.
* People management skills; including interviewing, performance management and reviews, motivation and conflict resolution.
* Ability to deal with Clients; including ability to sell; identify key Client needs, resolve problems with Clients; generate new work and satisfy Client requirements.
* Good site experience, including construction support, surveys, meetings and generating snag lists.
* Experience of working within a BIM Level 2 environment including a high-level working knowledge of 3D design tools including Revit, Navisworks, IES etc.
* Good IT skills in using standard office software and specific building services design tools.
