The Role
We are seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to join our team in West Dublin on a fulltime permanent basis.
Responsibilities:
* Carry out routine servicing and repairs on HGVs, including work on engines, brakes, suspension, hydraulics, electrical systems, and specialist equipment.
* Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults and perform necessary repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic vehicle components.
* Prepare vehicles for CVRT and LOLER tests, as well as 13-week inspections, ensuring all work complies with safety and regulatory standards.
* Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical or system issues to maintain vehicle performance and operational readiness.
* Replace worn or damaged parts, including tyres, brakes, steering components, and other essential systems.
* Conduct routine inspections to ensure all vehicles meet legal and safety requirements.
* Keep accurate records of all work completed, including inspections, repairs, and parts used, in line with company policies and legal obligations.
* Collaborate with the workshop team and external contractors to prioritise workloads and minimise vehicle downtime.
* Respond to roadside breakdowns when required, providing timely assistance.
* Follow health and safety protocols, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
The Person
* Proven experience as an HGV mechanic or similar role, with hands-on expertise in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.
* Relevant mechanical qualifications (QQI or equivalent).
* Comprehensive understanding of HGV systems, engines, and diagnostics.
* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
* Experience with diagnostic equipment and maintenance tools.
* Familiarity with health and safety regulations within a mechanical workshop.
* Effective verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to work independently or collaboratively.
* Full driving licence (HGV licence preferred but not mandatory).
* Proficiency in spoken and written English.
