onsemi Ireland currently has a vacancy for a Design Evaluation Engineer. This position will be based in the Limerick Design centre working on new product validation of power controller devices, you will have the opportunity to research the technical requirements, develop measurement systems and validate product functionality and performance and ensure our products meet all specifications. This will involve working with the new product development team to generate a characterisation plan to allow the complete evaluation of new products to ensure they meet all functionality and datasheet specifications.

Key Responsibilities
Research product electrical requirements and then develop a bench char plan to validate performance over the necessary process, voltage, or temperature variants.
1. Development of mixed signal measurement techniques.
2. PCB Design to allow identified measurements and characterisation to be made.
3. LabView and/or Python software development to supply stimulus, capture & process responses from the device.
4. Debug of silicon issues to root cause.
5. Pre-Silicon verification of the design using simulation tools and FPGA.
6. Generation of reports on silicon performance for the new product development team.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering field.
3-10 yrs. experience in a relevant technical position that demonstrates the candidate’s capabilities and performance
Strong understanding of the fundamental digital and analog circuit function
Strong written and verbal skills. Able to effectively communicate technical details to internal peers and external vendors.

10. Experience with the utilization of lab equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and source-measure units
11. Programming skills in Python and/or experience with equipment automation using National Instruments LabVIEW software would be beneficial
12. Familiar with PCB development software tools such as DxDesigner and PADS would be beneficial.
13. Candidate must be highly motivated and able to demonstrate a history of independently solving technical problems and identifying electrical circuit performance issues
14. Knowledge of Jama, Jira and confluence FPGA and Verilog desired.
15. Demonstrated history of taking personal initiative to resolve issues and drive for results.
