What is the role?
The Operational Excellence Senior Engineer I is responsible for achieving operational excellence in all areas of production, process development, process and space optimization, capacity expansion, quality improvements, cost reduction and developing a high performing lean culture through implementing and educating the team on lean tools within a fast-paced medical device manufacturing environment. Coordinate with all sites Op Ex to ensure alignment with strategy and to identify and manage improvement areas identified through product value stream maps.
What are the key responsibilities?
1. Implement lean principles in the production environment e.g., Customer first, Strategy Alignment, Go See, Flow & Pull, Focus on Process, Build in Quality, People Engagement, create Value Improvement.
2. Facilitate and encourage the production team in the use of lean tools e.g., Fishbone, 5 Whys, Is/Is Not, A3s, DMAIC, PDCA, 3cs, 5S, SMED standard work to enable a culture of waste reduction and continuous Improvement.
3. Facilitating in Lean principles to both direct team members including cross functional personnel.
4. With input from key stakeholders maintain and improve key Performance Metrics and implement visual management of same.
5. Drives continuous improvement of Key performance indicators (KPIs) and Key Behavioural Indictors (KBIs).
6. Effectively communicate and present project updates at all levels of the organization engaging all relevant stakeholders.
7. Act as a Change Agent in the introduction of Lean Tools in manufacturing and drive / sustain improvements by working directly with Teams at cell/line level.
8. Control the layout and optimisation of production and packaging lines.
9. Ensures that all work is produced to the standard required by the business and all relevant regulatory bodies.
10. Re-engineer procedures and work practices, to streamline manufacturing activities while maintaining compliance.
11. Identify and implement methodologies that sustain gains.
12. Benchmark with other industries who are implementing Business or Operational Excellence.
13. Become involved in all sites Operational Excellence process and identify synergies and common ground between the Parkmore, Shannon and Dangan Sites.
14. Define standard times and engineer standards, collaborating with production to spotlight and action improvement opportunities.
What education and experience are required?
1. Minimum of a primary degree in Industrial Engineering /Engineering or technological discipline.
2. Minimum of 5-7 year experience in a medical process development of manufacturing environment.
3. 2-4 years experience with defining and executing continuous improvement initiatives.
4. Relevant experience of continuous improvement with minimum of green belt lean six sigma training. A black belt in Lean six sigma an advantage.

9. Ability to present ideas and concepts clearly and effectively.
10. Familiar and comfortable with standard medical device documentation.
11. Ability to grasp and statistically analyze data.
12. Ability to engage with all stakeholders.
13. Highly motivated self-starter with an innovative mindset.
14. Understanding of ISO 13485 and FDA Design and Development Processes.
