An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Technical Director of BIM. We are seeking someone to be the central voice for BIM at all stages of delivery and to develop and lead this discipline within PM Group. This role will contribute strategically to the future shaping of PM Group.
You will work with the Group Head of DeLPD, other Discipline Technical Directors, and Heads of Services to determine how we efficiently and consistently deliver BIM services across the Group, covering all 20 design offices. You will contribute significantly to the company's improved performance, the delivery of safe assets to our customers, and to the creation of a work environment that enables a safe, healthy, and motivated workforce.
Responsibilities
1. Develop Strategy for BIM
* Develop a strategy for BIM across the Group to forecast and plan the required capability and capacity.
* Support the Business Units with strengthening and growing their departments, including department profiling, team competency gaps, and associated training needs.
* Develop targeted SME areas within BIM.
* Work with all pillars including Architecture, Engineering, CQV, Projects, Environmental, etc. to align and develop cross-functional competencies targeted at key sectors and technologies.
* Define, for our core sectors, the range of design activities and deliverables required to deliver the projects safely and efficiently.
1.2 Digitalisation of Business Processes / Ways of Working
* Develop a strategy for BIM across the Group to forecast and plan the required capability and capacity.
* Support the Business Units with strengthening and growing their departments, including department profiling, team competency gaps, and associated training needs.
* Develop targeted SME areas within BIM.
* Work with all pillars including Architecture, Engineering, CQV, Projects, Environmental, etc. to align and develop cross-functional competencies targeted at key sectors and technologies.
* Define, for our core sectors, the range of design activities and deliverables required to deliver the projects safely and efficiently.
1.3 Governance of Design Delivery
* Support/input to key proposals as requested by the pillars.
* Work with the Group Head of DELPD to establish a 'watch list' of key projects based on the extent of design challenge and technical integrity risk.
* Influence the early stages of design on key projects.
* Review BEPs and other contractual documents as required to audit and govern the standardization efforts. Input to end of Concept / BoD 'go, no go' reviews for high-risk challenging projects.
1.4 Troubleshooting
* Be a 'first responder' for critical issues regarding BIM design across the Group.
* Meet with senior members of both our own and the customer's team.
* Agree on corrective actions/way forward.
* Act as Technical Sponsor for the corrective actions.
* Keep PM Group Management updated on correction action progress.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
- Passion for BIM Design.
- Safe asset focus.
- 15 years relevant industry experience with at least 10 working at senior management level.
- Good working knowledge of Pharma, EV battery, Food and Med Tech, Mission Critical industries.
- Good working knowledge of BIM design and cGMP experience.
- Proven track record in leading a project in detailed BIM Design on a large complex project.
- Member of a recognized Engineering professional body.
- Strong technical, commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Good communication & people skills.
- Self-starter and decision maker.
- Fluent English.
