Job Description
This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to develop their career by driving the technical development of a Chemistry department.
This role will allow the successful candidate to expand their skill set across specification of laboratory instrumentation and equipment, method development and validation, establishment of laboratory systems and procedures. The role will also involve exposure to a range of test methods, analytical techniques and sample types and therefore analytical chemistry experience with chromatography experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the specification and selection process for laboratory instrumentation and equipment liaising with suppliers
2. Coordinate project plans for proposals, delivery, installation, commissioning of equipment and liaise with the QA department on any calibrations required.
3. Lead Validation Plan design and implementation for various test methods
4. Analyse data using statistical techniques and prepare validation reports for submission to relevant regulatory bodies
5. Prepare relevant documentation including test methods, forms and other supporting procedures
6. Assist with preparation of Chemistry laboratories for assessment to ISO17025
7. Assist with LIMS implementation.
About you
8. Degree in Chemistry/Food Chemistry/Science with a significant amount of Chemistry. Relevant post graduate qualification preferred
9. Working knowledge of a variety of analytical techniques including Chromatography
10. Some experience in project planning, development and validation of analytical methods
11. At least 3 years solid experience in analytical chemistry across a variety of techniques and instruments
12. Proven troubleshooting and maintenance skills, able to come up with technical ideas and solutions, interpret data and present in the required format
13. Understanding of food chemistry, regulations and analytical techniques
14. Working knowledge of ISO17025 requirements as applicable to chemistry laboratories
15. Fluent in English and confident with report writing. Able to use databases for literature review and summarise relevant information. Good understanding of validation terms and statistical processing.
16. The ability to work alone and within a team. Flexible and adaptive to changes in business requirements
