The Hardware Lab Manager will oversee all lab operations, focusing on basic hardware bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting. This role involves managing lab resources, ensuring efficient testbed configurations, and leading a team of engineers and technicians. The ideal candidate should have experience in automotive and Ethernet networking, along with some IT systems and network administration background.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day operations of the hardware lab, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
* Lead hardware bring-up and testing activities, including soldering and assembling prototypes.
* Debug and resolve testbed connectivity and configuration issues, ensuring reliable performance.
* Ability to carry out soldering tasks to install power relay, build and verify boards, cables and adapters.
* Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and execute test plans and methodologies.
* Maintain documentation for lab processes, configurations, and troubleshooting guidelines.
* Oversee inventory management of lab equipment and supplies.
* Provide IT system & network administration support for lab computers and servers, including software installation and maintenance.
* Train and mentor lab staff on best practices in hardware testing and troubleshooting.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 5-8 years of applicable working experience.
* Proven experience in a hardware lab environment, with expertise in soldering and prototyping.
* Strong understanding of automotive networking standards (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and protocols.
* Proficient in debugging and configuring testbed setups, using power supplies, scopes, network traffic generators.
* Experience with lab management tools and methodologies is a plus.
* Familiarity with IT system & network administration, including server & network equipment management and configuration, experience with Linux or similar operating systems.
* Able to provide end user support, including Windows, Mac and various desktop applications such as GSuite, MS Office365.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
