Locum Staff Grade (Grade II) Clinical or Counselling Psychologist required for Loughan House, Open centre, Co Cavan.
Loughan House is an operational adult male prison with a capacity of 140 males aged 18 years. It provides low security conditions for males requiring lower levels of security.
The appointed Grade II Psychologist will support the Senior Psychologist and multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to treat individuals referred to the IPS Psychology Service for mental health difficulties and offence-specific needs.
Key presentations include mental health difficulties such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, self-harm and suicidal behaviour, eating disorders, psychosis and schizophrenia, addiction, developmental disorders, intellectual difficulties, cognitive decline, traumatic brain injuries, and limited literacy.
The service also works with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and provides consultation, training and education to community agencies supporting clients' transition from custody to community.
The IPS Psychology Service holds a critical role in supporting the broader organisation through consultation, training and education. The service offers placements for psychologists-in-training and provides regular input to training programmes.
Essential qualifications and competencies:
* Eligibility for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
* A postgraduate professional qualification in Clinical Psychology recognised by PSI.
* A postgraduate professional qualification in Counselling Psychology recognised by PSI.
Desirable requirements include experience working with forensic populations, providing consultation and education to multidisciplinary colleagues, and further therapeutic or research qualifications.
Salary: Estimated salary range €50,000 - €70,000 per annum
