SETU are recruiting a Research Assistant as part of a Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM) research project on the evaluation of native grains for Irish whiskey production. The project is in collaboration with Teagasc and Technological University Dublin (TUD). The Research Assistant will conduct a specified programme of research under the supervision and direction of the Principal Investigator.
The project, Distilling and Brewing - Building Capacity, is a collaborative research project that examines the potential of Irish produced grain to be used by Irish distilleries. The project takes a ground-up approach looking at the agronomy of wheat and rye, the effects of agronomy on the quality parameters of the grain, and the subsequent processability of the grain into alcohol under laboratory conditions.
Essential Criteria:
1. A first or second class Honours Degree in science, brewing and distilling, agriculture, food science, chemistry, or a related discipline
2. Experience and skills in research design
3. Experience and skills in quantitative research
Salary: €34,445 - Fifth point of IUA Research Assistant Salary Scale
