Our client is a small-sized manufacturing provider within the construction sector.
With double-digit growth year on year, they are looking to appoint an Operations Manager.
You will assume responsibility for day-to-day operations reporting to the GM who spends significant time in Europe.
Overview:
Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the yard & workshop, ensuring effective team management, stock control, Health & Safety compliance, and sales administration.
Act as a key decision-maker in ensuring jobs run smoothly, pricing work profitably, and maintaining high operational standards.
Lead and manage yard and workshop employees, ensuring productivity and engagement.
Assign duties, monitor performance, and ensure targets are met.
Oversee timesheets and liaise with payroll for accurate processing.
Implement efficient workflows, ensuring smooth job scheduling and completion.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety (H&S) standards.
Conduct risk assessments, safety checks, and compliance audits.
Provide training and guidance to employees on H&S best practices.
Sales Administration & Client Coordination:
Handle pricing of jobs and products, ensuring profitability.
Manage sales administration, quotations, and customer inquiries.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring excellent communication.
Stock & Loss Prevention:
Oversee stock levels, ensuring efficient inventory management.
Implement loss prevention measures to minimize waste and stock leakage.
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
1. Proven leadership experience in a General Manager, Operations Manager, or Yard Manager role.
2. Strong Health & Safety knowledge in a workshop or construction environment.
3. Experience in team supervision, scheduling, and workflow management.
4. Excellent skills in pricing jobs, sales administration, and client coordination.
5. Strong understanding of stock management & loss prevention.
6. High attention to detail, particularly in docket and payroll administration.
7. Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and drive operational success.
Previous experience in manufacturing / construction / trades / workshop would be advantageous.
