Position Overview:
As a Junior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the financial management of our construction projects. Working closely with senior members of the team, you will assist in cost estimation, budgeting, procurement, and contract administration. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or an individual with limited experiences in quantity surveying to gain valuable hands-on experience and develop a successful career in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation. Assist in the preparation of accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overhead expenses;
2. Budgeting. Support senior surveyors in the development and monitoring of project budgets to ensure financial targets are met;
3. Procurement. Collaborate with procurement teams to source materials and subcontractors at competitive prices while maintaining quality standards;
4. Measurement and Valuation. Take measurement on-site and accurately record quantities for valuation purposes. Assist in the preparation of interim and final valuations for client invoicing;
5. Contract Administration. Aid in the administration of construction contract, including reviewing contract documents, tracking variations, and resolving contractual disputes;
6. Cost Control. Monitor project costs against budgeted allowances and highlight any deviations. Assist in implementing cost-saving measures where possible;
7. Subcontractor Management. Effectively manage the subcontractor procurement, application, valuation and final account processes in a timely fashion;
8. Documentation. Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions, contracts and correspondence related to each project;
9. Collaboration. Work closely with project managers to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
Competencies Required for this Role:
The ideal candidate will have:
· Construction related degree or equivalent; construction science, engineering, business, sciences or mathematics degrees preferred;
· Prior internship or work experience in a construction-related role is a plus;
· Knowledge in roofing/cladding/facade construction methods;
· Knowledge of construction contracts and procurement processes is desirable;
· Ability to read and understand drawings is desirable;
· Excellent organisational skills;
· Strong analytical and numerical skills with a keen attention to detail;
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment;
· Willingness to learn and a proactive approach to professional development;
· Must have a high level of IT skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Microsoft Project and Primavera is a plus;
· Current driver’s license
