We are looking for a proactive responsible person to run planning and execution activities commissioning on an ongoing EPCI project. The person suitable for this job needs to have the time and capacity to manage interfaces towards different parties, to ensure that the work is followed up over borders and to ensure that the correct bookings are performed to enable smooth progress in mobilizing, jointing, testing, and reporting from commissioning. We are looking for a person with flexibility, decisiveness, and engagement to show that he or she can follow through the period of testing. The commissioning is a separate part of the project team but utilizes resources from Engineering as well as test engineers specifically defined for this role.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Commissioning Manager is responsible for:
1. Driving the commissioning organization and preparations to be ready to perform commissioning.
2. Organizing commissioning meetings:
* Following up meetings with memos or action lists, including formalities.
* Ensuring that the actions are followed up and implemented in-between meetings, by holding people accountable for their deliveries.
* Encouraging cooperation; work as an intermediary between different teams to optimize solutions and effective implementation.
1. Together with the commissioning team consisting of parts engineering and parts testing organization:
* Splitting the scope into reasonably sized commissioning packages and/or pre-commissioning packages if relevant (mostly completed).
* Updating and following up the plan for testing across locations.
* Planning for mobilization and demobilization of different equipment.
* Cooperating with procurement to ensure contracts of testing not performed internally are followed up.
2. Together with engineering – defining the needed procedures to ensure full testing of commissioning in accordance with requirements from the contract.
3. Detailing the timeline in cooperation with the planner to ensure the timely commissioning of the delivery with sufficient float to installation/cable laying, jointing, and termination, to ensure that we deliver our commissioning on time.
4. Participating in engineering meetings and giving clear expectations to engineering of what is expected as a delivery from their side. Supporting the team for progress where needed.
5. Ensuring preparation of report documents to be filled out during testing and to ensure delivery of reports within the required timeline in contracts. Collection of all reports to final delivery.
6. Following up on Management of Change processes where variations of agreed scope are needed when relevant.
The majority of the commissioning work is scheduled for 2026, involving on-site visits to Cork and Brest. Additionally, there is preparatory work, including document review and logistical planning, to be carried out this year.
Sought Profile
Engineering background with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in HVDC cable installation and testing.
Ability to manage multiple interfaces; prior management or leadership experience is preferred.
Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of French and Norwegian is advantageous.
