We have opportunities for a Senior Associate to join our Assurance practice in the SE (Waterford/Wexford/Kilkenny).
Our South East Assurance Practice provides assurance services to a wide range of businesses, both indigenous and international. You will get the opportunity to work with clients from various industries including Asset and Wealth Management, pharmaceutical, food, engineering, services and not-for-profit. This diversity will help you gain valuable experience across many sectors.
This role involves taking charge of a broad variety of audits from planning to completion. The Senior Associate is responsible for organising and managing client assignments and projects including the completion of assignment tasks and project components as well as coaching, advising, and directing team members.
About the role, as a Senior Associate your responsibilities will include:
* Leading an audit team and setting the audit approach to the engagement, which makes effective use of team members’ skills and is within budget.
* Liaising onsite with clients to obtain relevant information in order to resolve any queries and to identify causes/risks on issues requiring further consideration.
* Identifying the key business and audit risks of a client and investigating all audit issues to arrive at a solution or proposal.
* Researching and resolving technical queries from clients.
* Working closely with the tax department to ensure that the taxation figures for the audit are finalised within the required time.
* Ensuring Manager/Senior Managers (or relevant Partner) are informed on a regular basis on the progress of the audit and relevant issues in respect of budget constraints.
* Reporting on audit findings to the Managers/Senior Managers and Partners and in particular raising any issues arising during the audit which may impact on risk.
* Preparing reports detailing issues found and recommending corrective and preventative actions to resolve them.
* Reviewing the work of junior team members to ensure quality, thoroughness and completion of assignment tasks within agreed time frames.
* Working as an effective team member during an audit by communicating relevant issues, requesting feedback and coaching junior team members.
* Designing appropriate procedures and audit programmes.
Essential Skills and Experience:
* A recognised University Degree or equivalent.
* Qualified ACA/ACCA (or equivalent from a recognised international accounting institution).
* At least 4 years practice accounting experience in small, medium or large practice.
