We’re looking for an R&D Technician to create and test prototypes, contribute to ideation and carry out design verification building and testing of our novel devices. What You Will Do:
Develop patient-focused cancer care products by transforming concepts into physical prototypes at Luminate.
Utilise benchtop tools and manufacturing techniques, including 3D printing, vacuum forming, heat sealing, soldering and sewing, to bring R&D concepts to life.
Build products for verification testing and validation testing according to work instructions.
Perform product inspection and measurements.
Perform incoming inspection on materials and device components.
Support R&D teams by contributing to brainstorms and design reviews, with a focus on design for manufacturability and assembly.
Contribute to design document creation:
Ensure high standards through a methodical approach.
Perform inspections and measurements on components and products.
Define & execute test methods and document results per test protocols.
Maintain lab operations by assisting with:
Ensuring equipment calibration and preventative maintenance.
Upholding safety procedures.
Managing inventory of consumables and equipment.
Reviewing and updating procedures as needed.

Requirements – The Ideal Candidate Must Have:
2 years of medical device production experience or degree in design or biomedical engineering.
Ability to read 2D component drawings & take measurements according to it.
Flexibility, persistence, resourcefulness and a drive to succeed.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; outlook, word and excel.
Enjoy making things and working with their hands.
Enjoy participating in a team environment, all working towards a common goal.
Advantages – It Would be Advantageous to Have:
A qualification in medical device manufacturing.
A qualification in a technical or design background.
Experience working in a role which required compliance to Good Manufacturing Practice or a Quality Management System.
Solidworks (or similar), 3D CAD Proficiency.
Experience working with rapid prototyping techniques including 3D printing, vacuum forming, heat sealing.
Taken on hands-on projects outside of work
