Here at Hays Recruitment, our leading medical device client is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer on a full-time basis in their manufacturing facility based just outside Galway city. This large organisation would specialise in the manufacture of plastics used to create complex catheters for investigation and discovery through injection moulding practices and techniques. The main responsibility of the Manufacturing Engineer will be to drive Continuous Improvement by leading the implementation of Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing principles.
Your new role
1. Diagnose and implement permanent solutions to manufacturing issues in a structured problem-solving approach. Champion problem-solving through appropriate documentation and knowledge sharing.
2. Drive Continuous Improvement by leading the implementation of Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing principles.
3. Work within a highly regulated environment ensuring the highest product quality is achieved through robust quality system processes such as GMP, NCR and CAPA.
4. Improve the production flow to achieve quality at source, ensuring product specification requirements and inspection standards are met through concise standard work.
5. Lead teams in the execution of validation activities.
6. Analyse and implement innovative improvements in operational performance through key Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics such as Yield, Uptime, and Performance, increasing capability, capacity, and stability of processes, product, equipment, and materials.
7. Mechanical design of jigs and fixtures to meet manufacturing requirements, optimise machine changeover time, and improve maintenance.
8. Evaluate new equipment/processes/chemicals for environmental impact in conjunction with EHS.
9. Adhere to Plant Safety requirements and Health & Safety requirements, ensuring the health and safety of yourself and others.
10. Be aware of potential environmental impacts associated with your work and the implications of non-conformance.
11. Contribute to enhanced energy performance by conserving energy where possible.
12. Participate in continual improvement activities of the OH&S, Environmental, and Energy Management systems through feedback/suggestions for improvement and timely reporting of incidents.
What you'll need to succeed
1. Experience of validation techniques & applications (IQ/OQ/PQ, TMVs etc.), associated regulatory requirements, and statistical data analysis.
2. Demonstrate a motivated & flexible approach to work with a results-oriented attitude. Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizational skills.
3. Able to manage complex technical projects to strict deadlines through appropriate Project Management methods and tools (PMBOK methods).
4. Actively promote and lead a cross-functional teamwork environment. Provide technical guidance & mentorship of technicians.
5. NFQ Level 8 in a Technical Discipline (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or Biomedical) with a minimum of two years relevant industry experience.
6. Project Management and Six Sigma qualifications will be a distinct advantage.
7. Problem-Solving, Process Improvement, Data Analysis, and Project Management experience.
