As CTO, you will be instrumental in shaping our technological roadmap, overseeing product development, and driving innovation that fuels PolyPico’s growth and reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Leadership: Set and communicate the technology strategy that aligns with PolyPico’s long-term goals and competitive positioning. Inspire and drive innovation across the company to maintain a market-leading edge.
* Customer-Centric Representation: Act as a key technical ambassador, presenting PolyPico’s technology to potential clients, stakeholders, and industry leaders. Run product demonstrations, facilitate testing of customer samples, and translate complex concepts into clear, compelling presentations.
* Product Development and System Design: Lead the design and enhancement of mechanical and robotic systems, from concept through prototype to production-ready systems. Oversee the development of scalable solutions, ensuring both functionality and manufacturability.
* Cross-Functional Team Leadership: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing, multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and technologists across mechanical, electronics, software, and physics domains. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
* Operational and Project Oversight: Manage and synchronize production and R&D schedules to ensure efficient operations and timely project delivery. Implement effective resource allocation and risk management strategies to meet both short-term and strategic goals.
* Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement: Establish and refine processes that enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability. Ensure systems are in place for effective logistics, resource planning, and seamless cross-functional collaboration.
* Sales and Customer Liaison: Work closely with the sales team to align technology with customer needs, and act as a bridge between technical development and client requirements, ensuring solutions meet market demands and exceed customer expectations.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
* Educational Background: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electronic, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
* Leadership Experience: Proven track record in a CTO, VP of Engineering, or similar executive role within a small to medium-sized technology company. Demonstrated success in leading high-impact projects and cross-functional teams.
* Technical and Strategic Proficiency: Skilled in both high-level technology planning and hands-on technical work. Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in designing scalable systems for manufacturing and production.
* Customer-Focused Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders and build relationships across functions and with customers.
* Adaptability and Agility: Capable of adapting to rapidly changing requirements, emerging technologies, and evolving customer needs. Brings a problem-solving mindset and resilience to overcome challenges.
* Mobility and Flexibility: Holds a full driving license and is willing to travel internationally to represent PolyPico at customer sites, exhibitions, and conferences.
* Biomedical Insight: Familiarity with biomedical materials and processes, ideally within a micro-dispensing or related context.
* Fluid Mechanics and Microfluidics: Foundational knowledge of fluid mechanics or microfluidics principles.
* Robotics and Fabrication: Hands-on experience with actuator design and basic robotics, particularly in precision applications.
* Machine Vision and Optics: Basic understanding of machine vision systems, including cameras, lenses, illumination, and image processing.
* Electronics and Software: Competence in electronic systems and a working knowledge of software architecture, user interface design, and embedded systems.
Core Characteristics of the Ideal Candidate:
* Visionary Leadership: An ability to see the big picture and to align technology strategy with company growth objectives, inspiring the team to innovate toward that vision.
* Results-Driven: A focus on achieving measurable results and delivering solutions that exceed customer expectations while maintaining cost-effectiveness and scalability.
* Entrepreneurial Spirit: Brings an entrepreneurial mindset and a willingness to roll up their sleeves to solve complex problems and drive new solutions from concept to execution.
* Collaboration and Influence: Strong cross-functional collaborator who can bridge the gap between engineering, sales, and operational teams, fostering a cohesive approach toward shared goals.
What We Offer:
* High-Impact Role: The chance to shape and steer the future of PolyPico’s technology and product offerings in a strategic, leadership-driven role.
* Collaborative Environment: Join a passionate, innovation-focused team in a company that values fresh ideas, bold thinking, and continuous improvement.
* Professional Development: Opportunities for professional growth, access to cutting-edge technologies, and exposure to international industry events.
