This role will provide support to a BPO project with a Japanese entity. Reporting to the Manager and/or Assistant Manager, the Finance Assistant will work as part of the finance team who are responsible for supporting AP process, invoice translation, data input, report production and month end process for a large multinational client. This position would suit someone who is willing to gain accounting experience in a high-paced professional services environment while combining it with study or other personal commitments.
Main responsibilities:
1. Providing support in the following areas:
2. Invoice/credit card statements translation (Japanese to English) and journal preparation;
3. Invoice issuance in Japanese;
4. Client communication in Japanese (via email);
5. Ad-hoc translation for some legal documents, review of reporting materials and e-mails;
6. Inputting vendor invoices and maintaining excel trackers;
7. Assisting manager with ad hoc tasks;
8. Annual leave cover for other international entities;
9. Provide periodical reports and ad hoc reports as required.
The successful candidate will possess:
10. Advanced Japanese. The candidate must be able to read and write in Japanese (Katakana) without difficulty;
11. Fluent English – spoken and written;
12. Capable of working on own initiative and learning fast;
13. Ability to be flexible in meeting deadlines when required;
14. Advanced analytical, written and oral communication skills;
15. Basic Excel skills would be required (basic pivot tables, basic formula);
16. Experience working as part of a team supporting others.
Following requirement would be advantageous but not an absolute requirement:
17. Accounts Payable process experience;
18. Bookkeeping with basic accounting knowledge (Fixed Asset, Prepayments etc);
19. Preparing journals, accruals, depreciation for month end reports.
