Eligibility Criteria:
* At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership role in finance or general management.
* A qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA).
* Proven experience in working with funders, compiling grant applications and reporting.
* Ability to think strategically, and to formulate and implement strategic initiatives.
* Proven experience of leading, managing and developing diverse support teams, including coaching and mentoring of staff.
* Experience of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
* Ability to work on own initiative, be self-motivated and flexible, and meet deadlines in a busy role.
* An understanding of WALK’s Vision, Values, Ethos and Mission and a positive vision for the future.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Word and Excel.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Previous experience of working in a not-for-profit or healthcare environment.
Job Overview:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Finance is a member of the Senior Leadership Team. This key leadership role ensures a platform of systems and practices are in place to support the delivery of WALK services. The successful candidate will have significant financial, operational, and administrative responsibilities that include leading and developing finance, facilities, procurement, and funding diversification.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Leadership of the Finance and Administration team.
* Building competence and capacity within the team.
* Contribute to the strategic planning process.
* Lead on the delivery of operational plans across the finance, procurement, and facilities team.
Finance Leadership:
* Develop/maintain funding relationships with HSE/Pobal and other funders.
* Support WALK operations with grant applications and business cases.
* Effective communication around costing methodology.
* Support the CEO in agreeing the Service Level Agreement with HSE.
* Strategic leadership on the optimisation of WALK assets and future planning.
* Attend bi-monthly meetings of the Finance/Audit subcommittee to the board, present annual budgets for approval and prepare bi-monthly finance reports for the Board.
* Oversee the annual audit and liaise with auditors on matters of importance to SLT and Board.
* Oversee finance policy and practice to ensure compliance with statutory, HSE, and Pobal requirements.
* Oversee financial risks.
Facilities & Procurement:
* Responsibility for all new leases/premises across WALK, liaising with Senior Leadership Team and Board where appropriate.
* Responsibility for insurance arrangements for the organisation.
* Oversee facilities function in relation to ongoing maintenance, utilities, and fleet management, especially any refurbishment or larger-scale works.
* Oversee Health and Safety policy and practice in line with that policy.
* Oversee procurement policy, planning, and compliance in respect of tendering.
* Oversee Health and Safety and all risks in this area.
Other Responsibilities:
* Ensure that the organisation is compliant with all data protection legislation.
