Europcar is excited to announce our new role of Head of Fleet, reporting to the Fleet Director UK & Ireland & Head of Country & Operations Director Ireland. The Head of Fleet is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive management of both Europcar car rental and car sales operations for the company. This role focuses on strategic leadership in fleet acquisition, sales operations, fleet management, and ensuring optimal inventory levels across both sales and rental business units. The Head of Fleet will lead a team of car sales managers, a fleet manager for Europcar rentals, and a fleet purchasing manager to ensure seamless operations. This role requires strategic planning, collaboration across departments, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Fleet Management: Oversee the procurement, distribution, and management of vehicles across the rental and sales divisions. Develop long-term strategies to optimise fleet acquisition, utilisation, and retirement. Collaborate with the Fleet Purchasing Manager to ensure efficient vehicle procurement while balancing cost, supply, and demand. Work closely with the Fleet Manager (Rental) to ensure optimal fleet availability for rental operations. Sales Operations Management: Oversee the performance of two car sales locations, ensuring that targets are met in terms of sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Manage and support the Car Sales Managers, providing them with the guidance and tools needed to achieve sales targets. Develop and implement strategies for car sales, including inventory management, pricing, and promotions. Monitor market trends and competitor activity to adjust strategies accordingly. Fleet Procurement & Vendor Relations: Work closely with the Fleet Purchasing Manager to develop and implement vehicle procurement strategies. Establish and maintain relationships with automotive manufacturers, dealers, and suppliers to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply chain. Oversee negotiations of purchase agreements, ensuring favourable terms that meet the company's strategic goals. Financial & Budget Management: Set and manage fleet acquisition and sales budgets, balancing costs and profitability. Collaborate with Finance to forecast and monitor revenue and expenditure for both rental and sales operations. Identify opportunities for cost savings across procurement, inventory management, and sales operations. Inventory and Asset Management: Maintain oversight of fleet inventory across rental and sales divisions, ensuring optimal vehicle availability and turnover. Coordinate with both the Fleet Manager (Rental) and the Car Sales Managers to forecast and manage demand. Oversee the de-fleeting and disposal of vehicles, ensuring maximum residual values for the company. Leadership & Team Management: Lead and mentor direct reports, including the Fleet Manager (Rental), Fleet Purchasing Manager, and Car Sales Managers, ensuring clear communication and alignment with business objectives. Foster a collaborative working environment, encouraging innovation and high performance across all teams. Reporting & Data Analysis: Provide regular reports to senior leadership on fleet operations, sales performance, budget adherence, and market trends. Analyse data to make informed decisions regarding fleet acquisition, inventory management, and sales operations. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure that all fleet and sales operations comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements. Identify and manage risks associated with fleet acquisition, sales, and vendor relationships. Key Competencies: Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives. Fleet Management Expertise: In-depth understanding of fleet procurement, sales, and rental operations. Financial Acumen: Strong budgeting, forecasting, and cost control skills. Vendor & Relationship Management: Ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with suppliers and vendors. Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions. Negotiation: Demonstrated experience in negotiating contracts and purchase agreements. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Automotive, or a related field. Anti-Money Laundering (AML) training preferable. 10+ years of experience in fleet management, automotive sales, or rental industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Proven track record in fleet acquisition, vendor negotiation, and managing cross-functional teams. Strong understanding of automotive markets and trends.
