Role Summary
Position: Director, Indirect Category Management- IT
Company: Our client is a leading global provider of solutions designed to support the critical infrastructure of data centers, communication networks, and industrial facilities. The company focuses on delivering products and services that ensure uninterrupted operations, optimize performance, and enable future scalability for its customers.
Scope: Lead procurement and category management for IT-related goods and services. Develop and implement sourcing strategies, manage supplier relationships, and optimise costs for a £200M portfolio, including software, hardware, cloud, and consultancy categories.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing and Strategy Development:
1. Create and execute procurement strategies for global indirect categories, focusing on cost savings, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation.
2. Analyse historical spend, conduct market research, and utilise cost modelling to identify high-value opportunities.
3. Develop total cost and ownership models to align sourcing strategies with long-term organisational goals.
4. Manage supplier relationships to ensure compliance with data protection measures, performance metrics, and pricing agreements.
5. Oversee a preferred supplier programme to maintain business continuity, quality, and cost competitiveness.
Leadership and Collaboration:
1. Collaborate with senior business leaders to align procurement strategies with wider enterprise objectives.
2. Lead cross-functional teams to drive innovative and sustainable value delivery.
3. Establish standard tools and processes to support global procurement activities.
Delivery and Execution:
1. Ensure successful negotiation and implementation of contracts, achieving category strategy objectives and savings targets.
2. Drive alignment between global and regional procurement teams to maximise impact and efficiency.
Qualifications
Required:
1. Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
2. 10-15 years of strategic sourcing experience, including expertise in IT categories (software, hardware, cloud, licensing, consultancy).
3. Over 10 years of leadership experience with a proven ability to develop and manage talent.
Preferred:
1. Experience in managing supplier performance and applying continuous improvement methodologies.
2. Strong business acumen with the ability to work effectively within a matrix organisation.
3. Demonstrated ability to drive execution with a results-oriented approach.
This position is suited for a strategic leader passionate about driving procurement excellence and achieving measurable outcomes.
4 days onsite in Limerick is required for this role.
