Site Reliability Engineer
Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a Site Reliability Engineer to work with our client who is a global leader in banking and wealth management which provide consumers, corporations, governments, and institutions with a broad range of financial services and products to achieve the best outcomes for clients and customers with financial ingenuity that leads to solutions that are simple, creative, and responsible. The role is based in Dublin. This is a 12-month contract position.
Role Summary
A seasoned Site Reliability Engineer is a support specialist with decent level of java and python understanding along with basic understanding of big data concepts. As a Site Reliability Engineer, the candidate will be critical in ensuring our applications' reliability, scalability, and performance. In addition, you will work on complex and challenging problems, propose innovative solutions, and contribute to a dynamic and collaborative team environment. The candidate should have a passion for solving complex technical issues and ensuring the highest levels of system performance.
Responsibilities
* Collaboratively contribute towards production releases and provide level 3 support daily for 50% of the capacity.
* Ability to develop java and spring-based applications along with troubleshooting python-based applications.
* Create weekly/biweekly/ROD change tickets and ensure that the change management protocols and standards are thoroughly practiced.
* Interacts with Prime Finance support team in weekly manner to monitor and react on observability insights in advance.
* Liaise with the development team on urgent production issues to ensure minimal downtime.
* Understand the application stack end to end to solve the emergency production issues.
Required Skills & Experience
* 6+ years of experience in an Application Support or Software Developer role.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a developer on Java based applications.
* Proficient in programming and scripting languages such as Java, Python, Bash shell scripting, and SQL.
* Clear understanding of Data Structures and Object-Oriented Principles.
* Must have hands on skills on SQL and basic data warehousing concepts.
* Must have understanding of disaster recovery principles like RTO, RPO, and Green Zones.
* Must have understanding of Linux, Bash and basic scripting along with basics like Unix group, and host group and basic cryptographic understanding.
* Must have basic understanding of basics of Microservice Architecture, Containerization and Orchestration.
* Experience with observability solution like open telemetry, Grafana, Splunk, and ELK.
* Effective written and verbal communications including ability to explain technical issues in simple terms that non-DEV staff can understand.
