We are recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our client, an established civil engineering contractor based in Co Sligo. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play an important role in the successful delivery of projects, ensuring effective cost management, accurate budgeting, and adherence to contractual obligations. You will work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to provide expert advice on cost control, procurement, and contractual matters.
Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
2. Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for tender submissions, encompassing materials, labour, and equipment expenses.
3. Collaborate with project teams to develop accurate budgets, considering all project requirements and constraints.
4. Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, identifying and addressing any cost variances or discrepancies.
5. Procurement:
6. Manage procurement processes, including the preparation and issuance of tender documents to subcontractors and suppliers.
7. Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, negotiating prices and contract terms to achieve the best value for the company.
8. Foster and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
9. Contract Management:
10. Review and negotiate contracts, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
11. Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions, monitoring project progress and deliverables.
12. Resolve any contractual disputes or claims, striving for timely and effective resolution.
13. Cost Control and Reporting:
14. Monitor project costs, tracking expenditures and analyse cost trends.
15. Prepare regular cost reports and forecasts, providing accurate financial information to project stakeholders.
16. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements, implementing appropriate measures.
17. Value Engineering:
18. Collaborate with project teams to identify value engineering opportunities.
19. Assess alternative materials, designs, or construction methods to optimise costs without compromising quality.
Requirements:
20. Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field.
21. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering sector.
22. Thorough understanding of construction contracts, tendering processes, and cost management principles.
23. Strong analytical and numerical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
24. Excellent negotiation and communication abilities, with the capacity to build and maintain relationships.
25. Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
26. Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
27. Possession of a valid driver's license.
