Job Summary:
This is a long-term Senior Automation Engineer position available at Douglas Control & Automation in Cork, Ireland. The role can be filled as either a full-time staff position or a contractor.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage an Automation Stream with accountability for its success
* Manage a team of people rolling out the systems, ensuring timely completion and quality delivery
* Carry out structured problem-solving to identify and resolve technical issues
* Document system structure and software architecture for easy navigation and maintenance
* Collaborate with teams to drive technology process innovation, focusing on quality improvement, cost reduction, reliability enhancement, and development of automated and semi-automated systems
* Provide training and support to Process / Maintenance Technicians and Manufacturing / Equipment Engineers on the team
* Research new technologies and industry best practices, applying knowledge gained to existing processes and future automation roadmap
* Interact with cross-functional team members, 3rd-party vendors, and practice good teamwork in support of daily operating requirements and business targets
* Maintain adherence to Quality Management Systems and Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements on site
Requirements:
* Competency in software systems such as Siemens, Allen Bradley, and ABB
* Project management skills with experience in mechanical/electrical applications
* Familiarity with Fanuc robots is an advantage but not essential
