**Job Title:** mRNA Technology Associate Scientist
We are seeking an experienced mRNA Technology Associate Scientist to join our team at Pfizer's state-of-the-art plant in Dublin, Grange Castle. This is an onsite role for an 11-month Fixed Term Contract.
Job Purpose:
As an Associate Scientist, you will play a critical role in the development and optimization of RNA manufacturing processes. You will provide science and technology expertise in the disciplines of RNA technology, helping Pfizer develop new and improved processes used in the research and development of our drugs.
You will apply your knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices of RNA technology to drive innovation and collaboration within the team. Your innovative mindset will help us develop economical, efficient, and safe processes that make a significant impact on patients worldwide.
How You Will Achieve It:
* Pfizer's Large Molecule Technology portfolio includes multiple approaches for creating effective biotherapeutics. mRNA vaccines have become a core component of our product portfolio, offering faster and more effective responses to infectious disease outbreaks.
* In this laboratory-based role, you will focus on characterizing and improving these processes for existing mRNA vaccines in commercial manufacturing and development programs at Pfizer.
Responsibilities:
* Comply with safety and regulatory requirements through internal training programs.
* Develop specific knowledge and practical laboratory experience of mRNA bio processing and separation sciences.
* Execute small- and pilot-scale RNA technology processes, applying knowledge of RNA technology, bioprocess engineering, and biochemistry to RNA technology process development projects.
* Collaborate closely with analytical scientists who work on the characterization of RNA-based therapeutics during process development studies.
Qualifications:
* Must-Have: BEng / BSc / MSc / PhD in Biotechnology / Chemical Engineering / Biochemical Engineering / Chemistry or related disciplines; 0-3 years of directly relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical industry; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong process and computer skills.
* Nice-to-Have: technical fields of experience preferably including mammalian cell technology, biochemistry, cell biology, microbial fermentation, genetics, fluid mechanics, process modeling; experience in designing and executing components of experimental programs in the laboratory; familiarity with problem-solving, risk analysis, and statistical tools; ability to troubleshoot technical issues, plan and carry out experiments independently, and work with complex instrumentation and software.
