Complex Behaviour Support Team
Senior Occupational Therapist – Complex Behaviour Support Team
Employing Agency: St. Michael’s House
Taking up Appointment: A start date will be indicated at job offer stage.
W.T.E. Part-Time (0.5) WTE post
Qualification: Degree or Masters in Occupational Therapy accredited by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists
Registration: Continued registration with CORU to work as an Occupational Therapist in Ireland
Reporting to: Children’s Disability Network Manager (CDNM)- Kilbarrack CDNT
The CDNM will provide clinical assurance regarding professional supervision.
Purpose of the Post: To support positive wellbeing of children or young persons who present with significant behaviours of concern through the application of the Positive Behaviour Support framework.
Team Duties & Responsibilities:
1. To operate within St. Michael’s House Positive Behaviour Support Policy.
2. To collaborate with CDNT to deliver targeted family and child/young person supports.
3. Manage a clinical caseload based on the clinical need of the service.
4. To contribute and support development and monitoring of a child’s Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP).
5. To support positive behaviour support competency development in CDNT’s.
6. To work in collaboration with the CBST interdisciplinary team.
7. To formulate and design positive behaviour supports.
8. To support the implementation of positive behaviour support plans.
9. To monitor and review positive behaviour support plans.
10. To ensure clinical and organisational risks are identified and escalated appropriately.
11. To conduct risk assessments and evidence business cases.
12. To promote a Human Rights model.
13. To maintain a high standard of clinical record keeping.
14. To always maintain ethical and professional standards.
15. To undertake such other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.
Specific Occupational Therapy Role:
1. To provide quality evidence-based Occupational Therapy services.
2. To provide an Occupational Therapy perspective in clinical formulation.
3. To offer a range of Occupational Therapy interventions.
4. To conduct comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments.
Teaching, Training, Support & Supervision:
1. To design and deliver service-specific workshops.
2. To provide supervision and support to other therapists.
3. To participate in clinical professional supervision.
4. To participate in mandatory and organisational training.
Building & Maintaining Positive Working Relationships:
1. To work in collaboration with other clinical teams.
2. To communicate in a skilled, sensitive manner.
3. To demonstrate a supportive working style.
4. To advocate on behalf of children and families.
5. To promote positive working relationships within the team.
Leaderships & Service Development:
1. To contribute to the development of policies.
2. To contribute to strategic development projects.
3. Demonstrate leadership within the team.
Research & Service Evaluation:
1. To undertake and participate in clinical audits.
2. To utilise theory and evidence-based literature.
3. To undertake appropriate clinically based research.
4. To engage in research projects approved by St. Michael’s House Research Ethics Committee.
Health & Safety:
These duties must be performed in accordance with St Michaels House health and safety policies.
Working Hours: 35 hours per week based on a 5-day week (pro rata).
Probation: A probationary period of 6 months applies to the post.
