The Role: Buyer
The objective of this role is to provide the best possible service to the wider business by effectively managing the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
* Developing efficient, cost-effective ways of working while developing professional relationships with internal departments, suppliers, and external clients.
* Ensuring effective and efficient procurement activities for client projects at UK and US sites is crucial.
* Maintaining supplier relationships, negotiating prices, and contributing to cost-effective procurement methods are key.
Skills and Qualifications
* HNC/HND level qualification (or equivalent in a related area) or significant experience in a similar role may be considered in lieu of academic qualification.
* Previous experience in a Procurement Department is essential.
* Previous experience of using a computerised purchasing/inventory system to generate, place, and expedite orders is also required.
Desirable Criteria
* CIPS Qualification.
* Previous experience in a Procurement Department within a pharmaceutical company or life science is desirable.
This role requires collaboration with internal departments and suppliers to ensure compliance with regulations, budgets, and specifications. Flexibility to undertake additional duties as directed by the procurement and supply manager is vital for operational success.
