Role Overview:
As an Apprentice Technician at Mooney's Garage, you will work alongside experienced technicians, assisting with vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and repairs to the highest standards. In our modern workshop, you'll gain hands-on experience with the latest tools and technologies, including hybrid and electric models, while receiving ongoing training in emerging automotive advancements. You'll also support vehicle health checks, communicate repair needs with the service desk, and collaborate with the team to ensure efficiency and customer satisfaction. This role offers a great opportunity to develop your skills in a professional and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist the technicians in diagnosing mechanical issues and carrying out repairs on a variety of vehicles.
2. Gain hands-on experience in routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tyre rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
3. Observe and develop troubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical problems, learning to use diagnostic tools and equipment.
4. Support the team in maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work environment, following health and safety regulations.
5. Learn to identify and replace worn or faulty vehicle components under supervision.
6. Assist in performing pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) and conducting basic vehicle checks.
7. Develop an understanding of workshop procedures, customer service standards, and industry best practices.
8. Stay engaged in ongoing training and development to enhance technical knowledge and practical skills.
Requirements:
1. Leaving Certificate – 60% across all subjects in Leaving Cert Applied or 5 Achieved Subjects in Junior Certificate.
2. Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills in basic car maintenance.
3. Full clean driving licence with the ability to drive and handle various types of vehicles, including manuals and automatics.
4. Confidence in maneuvering vehicles through tight spaces and across various driving conditions.
5. Physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including lifting, standing, and working in different weather conditions.
6. Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
