Reporting to: Quality and Engineering Manager
Purpose:
The Manufacturing Engineer supports the design, implementation and optimization of the manufacturing process to ensure efficient production of high-quality products. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and maintenance, to drive continuous improvement, reduce costs, and enhance production efficiency.
Key duties & responsibilities:
* Manage manufacturing projects from concept to implementation, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required specifications
* Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and other external partners to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment
* Provide technical support to the production team, troubleshooting issues and implementing corrective actions.
* Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and longevity of equipment and machinery
* Schedule and oversee regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
* Investigate and analyze the root causes of equipment failures and develop strategies to prevent recurrence
* Develop and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
* Train production staff on new equipment, processes, and best practices
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs
* Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive initiatives to achieve targets related to productivity, quality, and cost
* Analyze current production processes and identify areas for improvement, including automation opportunities
* Conduct cost analyses and recommend cost-saving measures without compromising on quality
* Prepare cost Estimations for potential new products
* Assist in the preparation of budgets for manufacturing projects
Qualifications and Experience:
* Honors's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
* Experience in an engineering position preferably with a manufacturing background would be an advantage
* Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
* Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other maintenance software.
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
* Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) is highly desirable.
* Certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2) is highly desirable.
