Delta Centre CLG provides training, residential, respite, day and multi-sensory services to adults with learning disabilities. We strive to ensure that the rights of each individual attending the service are upheld, including their right to equality, dignity, privacy, safety and respect. Encouragement and support will be given to each person attending the service to develop to their maximum potential and to improve their quality of life.
Role of Trustee with HR Experience:
Delta Centre CLG is seeking to recruit a trustee with a strong background in HR. The Board is particularly interested in candidates with recent and relevant experience working at a senior level in HR within the healthcare or voluntary sectors.
Charities Regulator's General Duties of a Charity Trustee
* Comply with the charity's governing document
* Ensure the charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit
* Act in the best interest of the charity
* Act with reasonable care and skill
* Manage the assets of the charity.
Responsibilities as a Trustee of Delta Centre CLG:
* Provide input to the strategic direction of the organisation and contribute with insight, oversight, and experience at board meetings and any additional commitments
* Policy development and implementation as required.
Specific Responsibilities Associated with this Role:
1. Strategic Oversight: Provide HR expertise to support the organisation’s long-term vision, ensuring a strong people strategy.
2. Governance & Compliance: Help ensure HR policies and practices align with legal and regulatory requirements.
3. Workplace Culture & Leadership: Offer strategic input on fostering an inclusive, ethical, and high-performing organisational culture.
4. Risk Management: Identify potential HR-related risks and provide oversight on mitigation strategies.
5. Stakeholder & Workforce Engagement: Advise on strategies to attract, retain, and develop staff and volunteers effectively.
6. Board Contribution: Actively participate in Board discussions and relevant sub-groups, particularly those related to people and culture.

* A deep appreciation and knowledge of the Not-For-Profit sector
* An understanding of and commitment to our mission and values
* Commitment to the highest levels of corporate governance
* Experience with people with an intellectual disability.
Board Meetings:
There will be 10 board meetings a year. The number of sub-group meetings will be determined based on the needs of the board.
Meetings will be held in the Delta Centre, Carlow. There is also an option to engage in some meetings virtually.
