Our client, the Land Development Agency is a key Government Commercial Semi-State Body that delivers social and affordable housing on State and other lands. It is overseen by an independent board of directors and the Government has committed to providing the LDA with €1.25 billion of equity which is drawn as required.
The LDA has commenced construction on various state sourced lands and is currently working on direct delivery projects that can deliver over 5, homes. It is also delivering affordable housing by working with the private sector on an initiative called Project Tosaigh, which will yield a further 5, homes.
Additionally, the LDA is working on large-scale longer-term strategic areas by master-planning and bringing forward planning applications in locations such as Limerick Colbert Quarter, the Digital Hub in Dublin and Sandy Road in Galway.
The Role
The role offers the right candidate a fantastic opportunity to play a key role on a wide range of transformative residential and regeneration projects across the country through the development life cycle.
The ideal candidate will have all necessary technical and commercial acumen required in delivering landmark projects, but importantly will need to be a team player with the drive, work ethic and adaptability to respond to the exciting challenges of the LDA mandate.
Principal Accountabilities
Excellent opportunity for a Site Engineer with 4+ years experience to join the Land Development Agency. The Resident Engineer will be a part of the Construction Team and assist in the day-to-day management of matters pertaining to the construction, technical and operational stages of a Project.
Person Specifications/Requirements
The role will include the following duties:
1. Responsible for the on-site supervision of the construction stage and to ensure that contractor carries out works in accordance with the design.
2. Ensure that works are constructed as required and organize adequate supervision of construction works on-site.
3. Reporting to the Employer’s Representative.
4. Coordinating Contract interfaces with respect to the works.
5. Assessment of Contractor claims and writing reports on same.
6. Assessment of Contractor payment applications against work completed.
7. Assessment of Contractor submissions including method statements and preparation of clear comments.
8. Supervision of the works, keeping records, measuring, managing correspondence, and contractual documentation.
9. Record detailed reports of all works and any significant happenings on-site, including photographic records where necessary.
10. Ensure that all work recorded is approved prior to the execution and document any mishaps such as delays, industrial disputes etc.
11. Attend regular site meetings and ensure other site supervisory staff are alerted to any matter which may affect their work.
12. Assist with the administration of the contract in accordance with the Safety, health and welfare at work legislation.
13. Other duties as may be assigned.
Essential Requirements:
14. Hold a degree in Engineering or an equivalent professional qualification in Engineering.
15. Have a satisfactory knowledge of civil engineering works, building construction, and project management.
16. Have at least 4 years experience working as a Resident Engineer
17. Strong ability in delivering results and performance management.
18. Detailed experience in the delivery of residential projects.
19. Direct experience in project management and good knowledge of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Regulations
20. Excellent Communication skills and high attention to detail
21. Highly motivated and self-driven
Experience
22. Preferably 4 years PQE in a relevant area.
23. Demonstrable willingness to take on new responsibilities and the ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team within a well-defined project organisation structure;
24. Be a driven proactive solutions & results focused team player, with the ability to adapt to new challenges
25. A keen interest in the development process and developing skillsets like:
26. project and development management skillset
27. contractual, commercial and financial aspects of development projects;
28. building & managing stakeholder relationships
29. Technical knowledge – an understanding of technical principles, construction buildability, technical solutions value engineering would be an advantage
30. Full clean driving license as some site travel will be required.
