Programme Assistant - Camphill Community
Camphill Community is currently seeking applications from highly motivated individuals to join our team for the following position: 2 x Programme Assistants.
Job Purpose:
To support the service (residential community and day service) in developing and fostering a person-centered culture, aiming to achieve high-quality personal outcomes, personal development, growth, and opportunity within the ethos of CCoI and the regulatory and contractual requirements of provision.
To assist in the inclusive programmes, training, and social role opportunities for participants by supporting and working with people with support needs, volunteers, employees, and wider community partners. To enable and support meaningful work, training, and personal development opportunities for people according to their ability, personal choice, and vocational interests.
Key Responsibilities:
The Programme Assistant will:
Management:
1. Understand the values and ethos of Camphill Communities of Ireland and behave accordingly.
2. Uphold, promote, and apply all practices and reporting requirements associated with company and HSE/statutory requirements on safeguarding and protection of vulnerable adults/children as appropriate.
3. Promote the safety and wellbeing of all community members while respecting their right to independent decision-making.
4. Contribute to establishing policies, systems, and practices to ensure the community provides the best standard of care and support, complying with legislation and best practices.
5. Contribute with colleagues to develop the strategic vision of the community and associated activities.
6. Build and maintain relationships of trust and confidence with adults with support needs, co-workers, employees, and volunteers.
7. Work in accordance with the policies and procedures of Camphill Communities of Ireland.
8. Adhere to HIQA Standards, New Directions Standards, and other company standards.
9. Engage with inspections and audits carried out by the Company, HIQA/HSE.
10. Engage in personal and professional development to meet the changing needs of the position.
Main Tasks:
1. Assist in planning the work of people with support needs, identifying the best activity and approach for each person, providing guidance, motivation, and direction.
2. Create a good working environment and group dynamic that enables each worker to benefit from their time in the programme.
3. Ensure people with support needs are constructively engaged, emotionally supported, and sufficiently challenged.
4. Work in conjunction with individual plans and aims for each participant.
5. Assist people with support needs in their work and supervise tasks as they become independent.
6. Participate in reviews and support meetings with social care coordinators and other individuals.
7. Notify the Management group of any concerning behavior.
8. Attend appropriate meetings as requested.
9. Work under limited supervision, following standardized practices and methods.
10. Negotiate holidays to minimize disruption to the programme.
11. Maintain Health and Safety regulations, compiling Risk Assessments where necessary.
12. Ensure all equipment is safe, clean, and in good working order.
13. Prepare materials, resources, and expertise required for projects/activities.
14. Keep responsible areas clean and tidy.
15. Organize and supervise tea breaks for the programme.
16. Assist in ensuring all required documentation is completed.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:
Candidates must have:
1. QQI Level 5 Major Award in Community/Healthcare (with 8 completed modules).
2. At least 1 year's experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities/autism.
3. Experience running programmes for adults with intellectual disabilities/autism.
4. An understanding of the New Directions model of day support services, as developed by the HSE.
5. A willingness to promote this model within the role.
6. Ability to support, coach, manage, and motivate a mixed workforce of volunteers and employees.
7. A full driver's licence, as driving a vehicle with up to 8 passenger seats and up to 3,500kg is required.

Details of the Role:
Salary Scale: €30,272 to €36,026 Per annum (based on a 40-hour week) pro rata.
Location: The Watergarden, Day Opportunities, Ladywell Street, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny R95 KW11.
Contract: Permanent - 35 hours per week.
