Wills Bros are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for our Renewables and Construction division.
This role combines tender writing and bid preparation with fieldwork responsibilities.
As an Electrical Engineer for Wills Bros, you will provide electrical technical interpretation of the documentation provided for both tender and Contract execution undertaking supporting the preparation and submission of competitive, high-quality bids and delivery of renewable energy projects.
You will also conduct on-site fieldwork to assess project feasibility, technical requirements, and compliance.
An understanding of CBoP and full ability to interpret EBoP packages of work for Industrial and large-scale renewable energy projects from 20MWp to 250MWp is required.
Intensive knowledge and full familiarity with LV and MV circuitry and a familiarity with HV circuitry electrical systems will be expected from the candidate and is critical to this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the tendering team to prepare and submit detailed proposals for renewable energy & other projects.
Provide technical input, including electrical design concepts, system layouts, and engineering calculations, to enhance bid competitiveness.
Interpret tender documents, specifications, and client requirements to develop tailored technical and commercial solutions.
Develop cost models and pricing strategies for electrical systems, including liaising with subcontractors, for both CBoP and EBoP components.
Prepare technical documentation, including electrical design submissions, compliance matrices, and risk assessments.
Field Work:
Conduct site visits to evaluate site conditions, perform surveys, and gather technical data to inform bid preparation and project design.
Assess and document the feasibility of electrical installations, grid connections, and infrastructure for renewable energy projects.
Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to address on-site technical challenges.
Provide support during the installation and commissioning phases to ensure compliance with project designs and client requirements.
Contribute to early-stage project planning by identifying potential risks and solutions.
Qualifications and Skills:
A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience in preparing tenders, bids, or proposals for renewable energy projects, with a focus on CBoP and EBoP.Proven fieldwork experience in electrical design, surveys, or project implementation.
Strong knowledge of renewable energy technologies, including wind, solar, and energy storage systems.
Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP-Electrical Transient Analyzer Program) and MS Office Suite.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
Willingness to travel to project sites across Ireland.
