Water Engineer, AWS EMEA Energy & Water Team
The EMEA Energy and Water team is looking for a Senior Water Engineer to influence onsite design standards and water chemistry treatment. The role requires coordination with design engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance teams for our global fleet of data centers.
You will use prescriptive and performance-based design approaches to define, design, detail, and document water treatment features. Your work will ensure safe drinking waters, industrial water treatment plant process design, and discharge compliance with environmental regulators.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customer access to innovation.
You'll collaborate with software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll help deliver the highest safety and security standards while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Take primary responsibility for on-site design to ensure safe drinking waters, water treatment plant process design for industrial, and discharge compliance with environmental regulators.
* Be the single-threaded owner for on-site water system design, ensuring compliance with national water law and environmental permitting conditions, including stormwater management and fire water retention.
* Provide high-quality water treatment advice on various projects, working with global Mechanical engineering teams to achieve alignment of water treatment systems objectives.
* Build and maintain the overall delivery program and project budget, submitting Capital Allocation Requests to secure finance for project delivery.
* Prepare investment need/business case papers to secure internal funding for water reinforcement projects to secure water supply and discharges.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree in a field related to Chemical/Process and/or Mechanical engineering.
* 10+ years of experience in design engineering or the construction industry, related to water quality and chemical treatment.
* 5+ years of demonstrated experience applying local water laws and codes, International Code Council (ICC) requirements, and other water treatment industry standards.
* 5+ years of demonstrated experience with processes of design review, specification, development of design standards, and submittal review.
* 3+ years of demonstrated experience with health and safety requirements and ensuring compliance within area of responsibility.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* 15+ years of demonstrated experience as a process design engineer and/or water treatment specialist.
* Technical experience of a range of treatment technologies.
* Experience with performance-based alternatives to prescriptive water treatment design.
* Advanced business analytics skills.
