It has evolved from a single function agency managing the National Debt to a manager of a complex portfolio of public assets and liabilities.
Businesses managed by the NTMA include borrowing for the Exchequer and the management of the National Debt, the State Claims Agency, the New Economy and Recovery Authority ("NewERA"), the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund, National Development Finance Agency and the NTMA Future Ireland Funds business unit with responsibility for the management of the Future Ireland Fund and Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund.
The NTMA also assigns staff to the National Asset Management Agency, the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland (SBCI) and Home Building Finance Ireland (HBFI).
Future Ireland Funds The NTMA manages both the Future Ireland Fund (FIF) which aims to ensure steady and long-term support for state expenditure from 2041, and the Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund (ICNF)which is designed to bolster state spending in response to economic downturns or to fund environmental initiatives between 2026 and 2030.
The Funds were established in 2024 and currently have over €10 billion of assets, and are expected to continue to grow over the coming years.
The NTMA has established a new business unit, the Future Ireland Funds, to manage the FIF and ICNF and is seeking suitable candidates for a number of key roles.

The Investment Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Investment and Operations functions across the full range of the Future Ireland Funds' activities.
All members of the Future Ireland Funds team are required to remain flexible to respond to the dynamic nature of the mandate - this may require team members to apply their skills outside of their core areas of responsibility, from time to time.
Principal Accountabilities The candidate will be required to work alongside all colleagues across the full range of the Future Ireland Funds' investment and operational activities.
The principal responsibilities will include: Supporting all aspects of the investment life cycle Producing high-quality reports and papers for internal stakeholders Industry research and analysis Financial modelling and analysis Working collaboratively with colleagues, partners and stakeholders Support senior team members across all the Funds' activities Knowledge and Experience The ideal candidate will: Have a third level qualification in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Science, Engineering, or a related discipline; Advanced degree, and/or CFA designation are helpful.
Demonstrate a keen and well-informed interest in investment and/or in developing knowledge and expertise in investment.
Experience The role is open to all talented and motivated individuals interested in investment or further developing their skills in that area.
The ideal candidate will likely have two to four years of professional experience.
Working in an investment data related role or in corporate finance, investment appraisal or experience of commercial or financial due diligence will be a distinct advantage.
Skills Financial modelling and analysis skills, in particular with large investment data sets Proficiency in use of financial software and tools (e.g.
Bloomberg) Problem solving Strong commercial acumen and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Diligent, self-motivated and a clear thinker Strong communication skills A flexible team player Ability to manage a range of tasks across several stakeholders in a professional manner Pension Abatement If an appointee has previously been employed in the Civil or Public Service and that appointee is entitled to or in receipt of a pension from the Civil or Public Service or where a Civil/Public Service pension comes into payment during the appointee's re-employment that pension will be subject to abatement in accordance with Section 52 of the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and other Provisions) Act 2012.
